| Although the name of
John Jaques is mainly synonymous with Croquet and Table Tennis,
having been responsible for the introduction of these games in
1851 and 1890 respectively, the Company, which celebrated 200
years of family ownership in 1995, offers many other firm family
favourites including the Snooker, Pool and Soccer Tables shown in
this web site.
After setting up in business as
wood, bone and ivory turners in 1795, John Jaques introduced their
famous Staunton Chess in 1839, and this is now the standard chess
design throughout the world and used for all major championships.
Other 'firsts' for Jaques were such favourites as Happy Families,
Snap, Ludo, Halma, Counties of England, Snakes and Ladders etc.,
etc.
In the early 1800s John Jaques
were the leading makers of turned ivory billiard balls and now
produce a comprehensive range of snooker and pool tables and
equipment. A collection of popular soccer tables and air hockey
tables have recently been developed, including a revolutionary
first - an outdoor all-weather soccer table.
Several other new products are
launched within this web site; including the Premier League Pool
and Cleveland American Pool Tables.
We hope you will like these
Jaques games; we are confident you will like the Jaques quality!
